So, Yeah. Monday After Spring Break.

And my brain is a mess.

A former student (who graduated ten years ago...Gawd I'm old), posted a comment on Facebook: "went to the book store earlier to buy a 'Where's Waldo' book. When I got there, I couldn't find the book anywhere. Well played Waldo, well played."

Yes, my students used to call me Waldo. I'm tall, relatively thin with dark hair, and wear glasses. I'm sure you can understand the comparison.

In the "Local" section of the blog, this is pretty cool in an indie-filmmaker sort of way:

Good peeps in Lawrence, Kansas I tell you. Good peeps.

The indomitable Robert Swartwood takes Narrative Magazine to task today. I like his moxie, whatever that is.

Finally, I'm putting together a lens at Squidoo (www.squidoo.com) to help fledgling writers. I'm not much more than a fledgling myself, but I've learned sooooo much that I'd like to share. Stop by (www.squidoo.com/writinghorrorfiction) and give it a look. Comments and suggestions are welcome. I have a list of additions to make, including an expansion of "the writing process" that includes tips on finding ideas, editing, and revising.

Enjoy your day, folks.

Yeah, Mondays are bad enough. Then stick a holiday before it, and you've got brain damage!

I feel old when the kids I taught preschool to have kids themselves. Ouch.

Wow, that's sad when you can't find "Where's Waldo" at a bookstore.

The only suggestion I can't think of at the moment is maybe include an article about horror cliches. You know like the girl who falls and sprang an ankle as she is trying to run away from the killer. Or the protagonist who discovers they are dead at the end of a story. Something like that.

Man, you so need to be a Zombie extra when they start filming in Lawrence!

Also, Holden McGroin. I really shouldn't have laughed so hard. But I did. Oh yes, I did.

Anthony - Serious brain damage.

Jamie - The seniors were 2nd graders when I started in this district. That's weird enough.

Andrea - Sort of ironic, I guess. Good point about cliches. Strange Horizons, even though they don't publish horror, has a nice list, too.

Katey - How could anyone read "McGroin" and not fall over laughing? C'mon, people.

I could never find Waldo *sigh*

Natalie - He's tricky, but not so much as those hidden 3D puzzles. *shakes fist*

35 isn't that old. Besides, it's better to be over the hill than under it.

P.S. I'm going to start calling you Waldo. :]

Your Squidoo page is an excellent resource. I'll make sure to link to it sometime this week.

Ah, in the UK, Waldo is Wally - we can't call you that. :(

Thanks, Jeremy.

Danielle - Don't I ever.

Go ahead and call me Waldo. You will no longer be anonymous. ;)

Cate - I've tacked a bit on today. It will continue to grow. (I'm not sure about the Wally reference...maybe that's a good thing?)
