Friday Flash Two-fer

I could let my short-short, "The Long Contract" over at Everyday Weirdness stand in for Friday Flash, but, with the 4th of July tomorrow, I couldn't help offering this little ditty:

"The Bet"

Ben says the the fuse is waterproof.

I take the bet. He swallows sparks, and the color burns from his face.

After a dull thump, his mouth opens, blood sputters out, and he mutters, "You owe me," before collasping.

(remember kids, place on ground, light fuse, and get away)

Eek, I'm glad I read The Long Contract this morning and not last night, or I might not have slept so well! Beautifully written horrific imagery, and creepy as hell.

The Friday flash is perfect for Fourth of July, too. :)

Thanks, K.C. "Beautifully written horrific imagery, and creepy as hell" is about the best compliment I could receive.

Thanks, Alan.

Well done. I hope and pray your weekend isn't as memorable or scarring. ;-)

Reminds me of when I was a kid and we had this puppy. . .
I am lying, what kind of a sicko do you take me for. :)

Fabulous 4th of July flash, and I loved The Long Contract.

Art is such a funny thing, really.

Excellent flash.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and we had this puppy. . .

Anyone here have a military background? The UK equivalent is flash-bangs and rabbits.

When we were military we heard all these stories, about the awful things our neighbours did to each other. All BS, most of what happened later was far worse.

When I was on base I met a guy who could sneeze his septum into his hand. He said it was a trick, I suspect it was a cry for help with his drug problem.
