School starts again tomorrow.
My thirteenth year in education. Thirteen years of students, books, papers, discipline...
An unlucky number for some. For me? I always feel a little nudge of butterflies in my gut, but I like school. If I have to work outside my home, and right now, I do, this is the place I want to be.
Besides, my students inspire me.
Heh.

good luck with the new school year Aaron! loved what you did with the cover. lol. c",)
Have a great year, buddy! I start back on Monday, so I have a few more days. This is only my second year teaching at the local college, but I'm with you. If I have to (and like you, I do) this is what i want to do.
I also get the little twinge of butterflies before the first day, but it goes away real quick. I hate public speaking, but I feel so comfortable in front of my students, it's crazy.
aobibliophile™ - thanks. It will be a good year.
Anthony - Good luck to us both. I hear you, re: public speaking. My classroom is my kingdom, though.
I know it's rough, but it's a GOOD job. And it needs people like you really badly.
Plus, those little monsters ARE inspiring. So here's to another good year. 13 has always been a good number for me.
Still a few weeks to go over here - but it's vanishing fast! :-( The six week summer holiday seemd to last for ever when I was wee!
My 13th year will start on the 30th, so I'm soaking in as much free time as possible before then. I can relate to the butterflies, but they vanish as soon as I see those stinkers' faces. It'll be good to be back. And I'll be teaching two creative writing electives + English, so I'm pretty stoked.
Will you let your "monsters" autograph your Monsters 2nd edition?
Hey Aaron,
Have a great year. Those kids are lucky to have you (fancy that! Well-read American teenagers!)...
On another note, I dropped by for my digital copy of A Feast of Flesh and was a little shocked by what other customers had also been purchasing (not really, but some of those titles were pretty funny!).
It's interesting to see how non-intuitive that feature can be on Amazon!
Enjoy the year. Teach a new text--it's how I stay sane every year! BTW, "When Sysadmins Ruled the Earth" might hit home with your kids...
I like it when you're back at school because we see more of you on the web. No more house remodelling. :D
