Friday Freak Out: Suspiria

Why did it take me so long to see this movie? Suspiria is the closest thing to a nightmare on screen I've ever experienced.

Have a great weekend.

Glad you enjoyed this. I SO love this movie. So many super cool little eerie touches. Like this one (from IMDB):

Argento's original idea was the ballet school would accommodate young girls not older 12. However the studio and producer (his father) denied his request because a film this violent involving children would be surely banned. Dario Argento raised the age limit of the girls to 20 but didn't rewrite the script, hence the naivety of the characters and occasionally childlike dialogue. He also put all the doorknobs at about the same height as the actress' heads, so they will have to raise their arms in order to open the doors, just like children.

Interestingly wicked, from the looks of it. I highly enjoyed the music as well.

Thanks, Aaron, I'll have to look it up :)

Have a great weekend yourself!

Barry - It was a creeptastic masterpiece. I give two shits about the dialogue in a movie like this...it's about atmosphere. Film can do that (but thanks for the background; it helps) That soundtrack? Oh yeah.

Kara - The music really gets into your head. ;)

In the best possible way. (there are straight pins in a corpse's eyes later on...oh the horror!)

You can tell you're watching an Argento movie just by the tint of the fake blood...

Holy crap!

I loved Goblin's music in this film. I tend to bounce back and forth between this film and Deep Red as my favorite Argento film.

I was late to this one, too. Just saw it last year. High creep factor.
