I took my sons to see their great-grandfather's farm earlier this fall. Here's a shot of my youngest, Max, with my Mom. Uncle Rick is driving the combine, harvesting soybeans. I rode with Rick, Owen (5), and Max (2) while he cut some of the beans, and the boys thought it was the coolest thing ever. In the past I've been a little embarassed of my rural background, but I have to respect the farm life. Plus, growing up in a small town gave my imagination plenty of room to...fester.
I also thought it was appropriate to post this pic because my Grandfather (the farm's owner) is in the hospital with a fractured femur. At 93, every health issue is a serious one.
Puts Nano in perspective. I'm sitting at 50,300 words. Yes, FINISHED. I'll have to combine all my chapter files, which I save individually for potential computer crash safety, and verify some time this weekend.
Write on.

Great picture and you are a complete dog finishing NaNo already. I feel really behind having you, Cate, and Natalie to compete with.
I'm a dog for a whole slew of reasons. And I'm very sick of writing.
Ten more days. You can do it.
Congratulations!
WOOT! Congratulations. And what's with everyone posting pictures of evil farm machinery today and why would you offer your son up to it.
Yay for being finished! And hope your grandfather recovers well.
Congrats for finishing Nano! I am not jealous at all, oh no, of course not.
I hope your grandad gets better soon!
