My Boys

Owen is receiving 1st communion today. He's nearly five feet tall (at age seven) and scored four goals in his soccer game this morning (a come from behind win). He now owns a suit, his first. He has three neckties, all clip-on. Thank Zeus.

Max turns five today. He still has one missing tooth, chipped and pulled when he was two. He can stand on his head and do a cherry drop in gymnastics. I've baked three birthday cakes in the past two weeks.

I looked at some old pictures the other day and realized how fast they grow up.

I love these guys, even when they're knuckleheads.

They're inspirations. In fact, I've dedicated The Saints are Dead to them.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Kids grow up way too fast. Your seven year old is almost as tall as I am. Give him another inch and he will be.

I honestly believe we are better people because of our children. Mine is 22 and I still worry over her. (Hugs)Indigo

They sound like great kids. I'm continually flabbergasted at how fast my three nephews are growing--the oldest is 14! My little brother shouldn't be old enough to have a 14-year-old son!

Indigo - I expect Owen and Max to hit 22 before I know it. And yes, they make me better every day.

K.C. - Time really does seem to zoom by... And to think: once upon a time I thought I'd be in high school forever.

Wait--I still am in high school (just on the other side of the desk).

Milo - Let's just say Pillsbury had something to do with those cakes...

(I do make homemade icing)

Almost five foot... You mean, almost my height??? Oh my god, I hope my niece doesn't hit five foot anytime soon (she's six).

Uh, yeah, he's about to outgrow me too. (And outscore me! I mean, I played left fullback, but still...)

<3 for the kids. They remind us why we friggin bother.

I know the feeling. My daughter is 4, my son 2. I am still convinced my wife is playing a trick on me and just skipped a birthday to see if I would notice...
