I Hope They Burn My Books Someday

We're wrapping up Fahrenheit 451 in one of my classes, and I just want to share my love of Ray Bradbury. I hope they try to burn my books someday.*

    Bradbury is a genius. I love that man and his stories. In a similar vein, I have a picture essay of Little Black Sambo in my library. It hangs prominently on a wall devoid of other books or pictures.

    Alan - The whole book thrills me. I can't believe people censored a book about censorship.

    Cate - It's nice to know pros do some of the same weird stuff I do.

    Jamie - My wife has a pseudo-censored copy of LBS where they reinvented the story to be in India. Silly.

    I haven't read this book but will definitely now put it on my To Buy List. I do love Something Wicked This Way Comes though.

    I don't think I can get anything I write burned for it's brutal insights on the human condition, so I'll have to rely on rampant nudity. All that friction is bound to start a fire.

    Danielle - I loved Something Wicked. Bradbury has such a way with figurative language.

    I probably shouldn't admit that I'm not a Bradbury fan. I think his writing is good, but I've never been able to get into it. I must have tried Something Wicked This Way Comes half a dozen times.

    We had to read Fahrenheit 451 in tenth grade. I hated it. Maybe it's time to try it again now that I'm a grown-up. :)

    K.C. - I can understand. I don't think his schtuff is for everyone. I love his attitude about writing, though. The man is a pure writer.
