I mentioned a while back that A cappella Zoo was going online with stories. Well, you can now read "A Sort of Honeymoon" from issue #2 for free. The story lands just over 1,000 words, so it'll be quick and painless. I promise.
It's not a horror story. Not even dark.
In fact, I write an awful lot of not-so-dark fantasyesque shorts. Maybe the ol' blog needs another face lift?
That got me all emotional *sigh* I remember those old jungle gyms. I also remember the wonderful metal horses on the swing-set. All gone, replaced with plastic crap.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed that sentimental story. Quite a bit different than your usual fare.
ReplyDeleteI like it. It got me all sentimental for back in the day when everyone knew each other in the neighbourhood.
ReplyDeletei never did jungle gyms. too high. dangerous. scary...
ReplyDeleteAwesome story Aaron. Really good.
ReplyDeleteReally liked that, Aaron. It was different in a way, but the skillful buildup of tension was not. You play us like a friggin piano. Niiiice.
ReplyDeleteLeft me smiling. What "The Mangler" might have been if Stephen King had had a happier childhood.
ReplyDeleteThis Aaron fella's got some talent! Gonna keep my eye on him.
Nice little tale, Aaron. I’m all for a bit of sentimentality now and then.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Show's that you have not only talent, but range as well.,
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Thanks, everyone. I wrote that story after reading Jeff Vandermeer's Secret Lives. I don't really know why...maybe secretly I'm a sentimental sot.
ReplyDeleteThat was strangely moving. I love the way you describe the neighborhood. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful story, Aaron. So original and imaginative and awe-inspiring. I'm going to carry it around with me for the day.
ReplyDeleteOh, but I should add that it's missing one thing - a trailer. ;)
