The Luck of the...Who?

I've gone green today (at least the background). Who-so-ever coined the phrase "luck of the Irish" hadn't read much Irish history. Maybe he/she was trying to be ironic.

My wife is 1/2 Irish (we even visited some cousins in Ireland on our honeymoon), so we enjoy the day (read: drink green beer and gorge ourselves on corned beef & cabbage). The whole family gets to march in a parade later--the first time for me since 8th grade band.

    The movie version of Triffids was a little silly, but the book is nice thus far.

    I am not Irish at all, although I do enjoy a good St. Pat's day. I know what you mean by 'luck of the Irish,' potato famine, plague, civil wars, and never mind the discrimination they faced when they came to America. Truly a blessed people.

    I'm dressed all in green today (I own ONE green shirt, I discovered when I looked in the closet this morning--fortunately it was clean) and I've been eating corned beef and cabbage like it's going out of style. I love that stuff! I made a huge brisket Sunday and put in six carrots and a whole head of cabbage. Yummmmm.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day! My people are all Scotch-Irish on my mother's side and (Welsh on my father's side), so I feel pretty solidly comfortable wearing green. Although no green beer for me, ick. I will not drink it, SamIAm.

    Enjoyed seeing you in the Parade, Mr. P, it was a nice change to the Girl Scouts who wouldn't share their cookies.
